Re: The Looking Glass’s Irene

I have some theories regarding the mansion but I’m not 100% on them yet, but it does make me wonder about Irene’s backstory and self-image.

All the blood splatter, ghosts — that the switches to the attic are crosses/gravemarkings… Also too that it feels like a situation she’s being led into, but I’m not sure if it’s by someone else or if it’s herself. Especially since, ultimately, to activate the event you have to attack what’s in the attic. And it almost seems like retracing the steps of a memory or something. (I also like to assume that these are psychological representations most of the time, but…) It especially feels this way, that she’s definitely to blame for this event, when the ghosts appear in the mansion. The one that seems to have its face wrecked reminds me too much of the injury she just did to herself in the attic and it feels like it’s some guilty reminder following her from room-to-room.

And then going back to the fact that what she kills is (a version of) herself, which I didn’t realize at first until I went out back behind the mansion: that’s something I find really haunting, but it’s also what makes me really curious about her. It makes me question why exactly she seems to (supposedly) hate something in herself enough to do that.

What also strikes me about the event is that the entire time I was going through the attic, I thought I was following someone else. That I would run into another person, not another Irene. (Which also brings up the question if it was that other Irene, I guess.)
